Semi-Permanent Eyeliner Aftercare
Aftercare Instructions
Please follow these instructions carefully for 7–10 days after your procedure to ensure proper healing and long-lasting results.
Immediate Aftercare (Days 1–3)
Every 2 hours for the first 3 days, gently cleanse your lash line using a cotton pad lightly dampened with distilled water.
Do not rub — gently press and pat the area clean. After cleansing, apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor twice daily (morning and night only).
Begin ointment application on Day 1 and continue for a total of 7 days.
Do not over-apply. The eyelids need oxygen to heal — the lash line should never appear greasy or shiny.
General Healing Guidelines
Do Not Pick or Rub
Do not rub, scratch, or pick at the lash line.
Allow any flaking or light scabbing to exfoliate naturally.
Picking may remove pigment and cause uneven healing.
Water, Sweat & Heat Restrictions (10 Days)
Do not soak the treated area in baths, pools, or hot tubs.
Avoid swimming in saltwater or chlorinated pools for at least 10 days.
No saunas, hot yoga, or steam rooms.
Avoid exercise for 10 days. Afterward, resume gradually while preventing sweat from entering the eyes.
Keep your face out of direct shower water. Do not allow soap or shampoo to run into your eyes.
Hygiene & Protection
Do not touch the treated area with unwashed hands.
If necessary, use a sterile cotton swab and clean hands.
Avoid contact with pets and unclean environments during healing.
Sleep on your back for 7–10 days and use a clean pillowcase.
Do not wear contact lenses for at least 48 hours after the procedure. Wear glasses if needed.
Makeup & Lash Restrictions
Do not wear eye makeup (mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow) until fully healed.
Avoid lash serums, lash extensions, and strip lashes until healing is complete.
Do not apply products that are not specifically recommended for healing.
Sun Exposure
Avoid direct sunlight during healing.
After 30 days (once healed), wear sunglasses outdoors to protect pigment and maintain color longevity.
Blood Donation Notice
If you are a blood donor, you may not donate blood for 1 year following your permanent eyeliner procedure (per American Red Cross guidelines).
What to Expect During Healing
Days 1–3
Eyelids may feel swollen or tender.
The eyeliner will appear darker and more defined than expected.
Mild redness is normal.
Days 4–7
Light flaking or minor scabbing may occur.
Color may appear patchy or uneven.
Do not pick or disturb the area.
Weeks 2–4
Pigment will soften and settle into the final healed color.
Touch-Up Appointment
Permanent eyeliner is a two-step process.
Schedule your touch-up appointment 6–8 weeks after your initial session to perfect shape, symmetry, and color retention.
Long-Term Care
Once healed, apply sunscreen to the eyelid area when exposed to sunlight.
Avoid exfoliants, scrubs, or retinol products directly on the eyelids.
Limit heavy, oil-based eye creams along the lash line.
Touch-ups are typically needed every 2–3 years to refresh color.
Avoid Botox, fillers, or facials around the eye area for at least 4 weeks post-procedure.
Symptoms of Infection
Mild redness, tenderness, or slight swelling is normal during the first few days.
Contact your doctor immediately if you experience:
Severe swelling lasting longer than 3 days
Yellow or green discharge
Excessive pain or heat around the eyelids
Fever, chills, or red streaks near the eyes
Following these instructions carefully will promote safe healing, optimal pigment retention, and beautiful long-lasting eyeliner results.
