We start with a detailed consultation to understand your hair loss pattern, goals, and desired look. Do you want a hairline restored? More density? A full buzz-cut appearance? We will assess your scalp, discuss pigment color matching, and design a custom SMP treatment plan tailored to your unique features.
Once we have established your goals, we will hand-draw and map your new hairline or treatment area. We will ask you to view the design from multiple angles to ensure it complements your facial structure and looks completely natural. Pigment shades are carefully selected to match your existing or desired hair color.
Your comfort is our priority. Before we begin, a topical numbing cream is applied to the scalp to minimize any discomfort. Most clients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the process is. Many describe it as a light pressure sensation and some even relax and doze off during the session.
Using a specialized micro-needle, we carefully deposit pigment into the scalp in tiny, precise dots that replicate natural hair follicles. Each dot is placed at the correct depth, angle, and density to blend seamlessly with your natural hair or scalp. Sessions typically last 2 to 4 hours depending on the area being treated.

Pigment is applied using a specialized micro-needle that deposits dots of color at a precise depth in the scalp. Unlike traditional tattoos, SMP uses specific pigments and techniques designed to stay true-toned on the scalp for years. Results typically last 3 to 5 years before a refresh is needed, depending on skin type, sun exposure, and aftercare.
We use industry-leading SMP needles and pigments specifically formulated for scalp skin. The technique requires precision and artistry. Each dot is placed at a specific angle, depth, and spacing to replicate the natural randomness of real hair follicles. No two heads are the same and every treatment is fully customized.
After each SMP session, your scalp may appear slightly red and the pigment will look darker for the first few days. This is completely normal. Over 5 to 10 days the color will soften and settle into a natural shade. It is important to keep the scalp dry, avoid sun exposure, and not scrub the treated area during healing. A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to keep you comfortable. Most clients report feeling only a light pressure or mild scratching sensation. Many find it far more comfortable than expected.
SMP typically lasts 3 to 5 years before a color refresh is recommended. Longevity depends on your skin type, sun exposure, and aftercare habits. Touch-ups are quick and straightforward.
Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications 24 hours before your session. Come with a clean, moisturized scalp and avoid sun exposure or sunburn on the scalp for at least one week prior to your appointment.
There is minimal downtime. Your scalp may appear slightly red for 24 to 48 hours after each session. You should avoid heavy sweating, swimming, and direct sun exposure for about 5 days post-treatment. Most clients return to normal activities the next day.
