Microblading Pre-Procedure
Pre-Procedure Information & Advice
Please read the following information carefully before your microblading appointment.
Treatment Sessions & Results
Microblading typically requires multiple sessions to achieve the best results. All clients will need at least one retouch appointment, scheduled 4–6 weeks after the initial procedure. Clients with oily skin may require an additional touch-up.
Immediately after the procedure and for a few days following, your brows will appear darker and more defined. This is normal. The color will soften and lighten by approximately 30–50% as the area heals.
What to Expect
Although a numbing cream is applied during the procedure, you may still experience some sensitivity or mild discomfort. Redness and/or slight swelling may occur and can last 1–4 days.

Do not wear makeup on the day of your procedure.
Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment.

Numbing Response
Every individual responds differently to numbing cream. While some clients experience complete numbness, others may feel mild discomfort. We cannot guarantee the level of numbness achieved.
Procedure Details

have a question?
Quick answers to questions you may have
How many treatment sessions are required for microblading, and what should I expect?
Microblading typically requires multiple treatment sessions for optimal results. Initially, clients need to return for at least one touch-up appointment, scheduled 4 to 6 weeks after the first procedure. Those with oily skin may need an additional touch-up. Immediately after the procedure, the color will appear significantly darker and sharper, but it will lighten by 30-50% in the following days. Sensitivity or discomfort may still be felt despite the use of numbing cream, and the skin might be red or swollen afterward.
What should I avoid before my microblading appointment?
To ensure the best results and minimize complications, avoid wearing makeup on the day of your procedure. Do not drink alcohol 24 hours prior to the treatment. Refrain from using certain herbs and spices like black pepper, cardamom, ginger, cayenne, cinnamon, garlic, horseradish, and mustard. Avoid shaping or waxing your brows beforehand; your technician will handle this during the procedure. Additionally, no electrolysis for at least 5 days before, and avoid Botox, AHA products, and retinoids for 2 weeks prior. Exfoliating treatments, chemical peels, laser peels, and microneedling should not be done within 6 weeks prior to the procedure.
What should I know about the topical anesthetic used during microblading?
Certain conditions may prevent you from getting microblading done. These include, but are not limited to, active skin diseases, keloids, or a history of keloid scars, severe acne, and uncontrolled diabetes. Patients prone to cold sores or fever blisters should take an antiviral medication prior to treatment. Hormone therapies can affect pigmentation and sensitivity. Consult with your technician or healthcare provider to determine if microblading is suitable for you.
Are there any contraindications for microblading I should be aware of?
Allergic reactions can occur from the anesthetics used during the procedure, presenting as redness, swelling, rash, blistering, dryness, or other symptoms. If you experience an allergic reaction, contact your doctor immediately. Numbing effectiveness varies among individuals; some may feel completely numb, while others might experience discomfort. The numbing cream/gel, which is safe and available over-the-counter, is applied for 20-30 minutes before treatment. Post-procedure, you might experience redness and swelling lasting 1-4 days. Always follow the post-procedure care advice for the best results.
